You should use a wedge when splitting.
The thunder at 5:03 was God telling you to not baton the knife.
Despite the unexpected interruption as a result of the rain it was still a good review. That was a nice location. I personally would never take a butcher knife into the wilderness for shelter building and such, but for meat processing and cooking or other light duties, it proves to be a practical and durable blade much like a Mora.
There's also True edge lettuce knife which is also about the same as the old hickory, except the lettuce knife handle is octagonalized.
Went from knife review to ASMR with that rain. Lol
Is it true that the Butcher 7 knife is convex grind, while this Hop knife is full flat, pls? 🙂
Am I the only one who loves the sound of a good rain storm? It really gives me peace. I suffer a bit from PTSD after 3 wars…..not much, just a little. But if theres a good storm rolling in off the gulf….open the windows, get into my chair with a Wooby, and just peace out.
Great video. Still, those first two tasks were painful. Not my first, second, third or sixteenth choice for survival, though if it were all I had, I'd be glad for it.
Will the sheath for the Ontario work for the old hickory?
I want to know what a hop knife is designed for. Do brewers use it?
