  1. Hahahaha! In all seriousness, I kinda like it because of the ease with which it could better fit into a pocket. Then again, mine might hold slightly more hexamine than the one shown ( I haven't conducted proper tests on available brands).

  2. Hi,
I agree, it's great stuff. I got different models. 1 of the small DDR-NVA-models, a few "normal" BRD-Bundeswehr-models and one bigger-clone-model. For the bigger one I made an spiritus-stove from two bigger tealight-aluminium-cups. In the upper one I drilled a few holes for the "Jet-effect"..works pretty well . 3/4 Cup (approx. 60ml) heats one EPA-Ration very hot. But normally I got only the mid-sized-esbitCooker with Esbit-Tabs, it's easier to carry in a little pouch 🙂

    regards
    Steffen

  3. I was an helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army stationed in Vietnam '69-'70 and we made "survival stoves" to heat-up our C-Rations all the time!

Just go to the following link:

Just use a solution of 3 parts alcohol & 1 part cooking oil instead of the JP-4 that we used as the 'fuel'. Compact the dirt and/or sand loosely not tightly in the bottom ⅓ of the can. Dirt and sand is plentiful and free. The stove burns very well at a temperature that quickly and easily boils water!!
